The world is full of last men slavishly bowing at the alter of free market capitalism, clutching abreast Rands satanic verses, suckling from the teat of the Leviathan and gorging on the sweet nectar that is consumerism. Consider the game pac man, this is the true horrific vision of the last man. Pacman rushes around a maze endlessly consuming meaningless junk, he is completely under the control of the person playing the game, slavishly obedient to every command, when his ghost catches up with him, he runs away, and if his master somehow mistakenly makes pac man confront his ghost, he instantly dies. Pacman will never confront his morality because he is a program blissfully unaware he is even in a game, he will always turn and run to the nearest piece of junk to avoid his ghost.​ He will never ask himself who am I? He is as far from freedom and self responsibility as anyone gets, he is a slave to deterministic causation. He consumes therefore he is. Is there a greater horror imaginable?

The last pac man possess no will at all. He is in a dark cave and if he ever did turn to look at the true light, his eyes would sting and he would inevitably wince and cower back to his hovel. That is the Last man.​Who has the will to bathe in the light of freedom? Who has the courage to confront their morality? Where are the brave and just men and women who can break the yolk of oppression? Are you a last man, or are you a hero? Meritocracy is for heroes with the creative vision to write their own program. It is for the new men and women in society. Meritocracy is the dialectical culmination of history. Freedom comes when every child born is free to think. We are the second enlightenment, we are the liberation of zeroes!
